Souvenir tray

Visitors to Waskesiu purchased a variety of goods as souvenirs of their holiday at Waskesiu.

This tray was donated to the Museum during the summer of 2014 by Grant Simmons who said it belonged to his parents.  His father made his first visit to Waskesiu in 1946 and enjoyed visiting with some of the NHL players who were in the Park at the time. For example, Johnny Bower, who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, ran a restaurant  on Lakeview Drive.

Grant’s parents were married in 1952 and spent their honeymoon at Kapaswin Cabins.

The image on the tray is of the boat rentals when the marina was in the townsite between the Main Beach and the cement breakwater. The large boat is the Queen which used to take people on cruises around the lake and excursions to the West End for fishing trips.
